This is the bizarre moment a wasp was seen carefully removing a piece of pork to steal from a butcher's stall.

The vendor noticed the yellow insect landing on the raw meat in Guangdong, China, on December 26.

Footage shows the yellowjacket using its mandibles to peck at the flesh, moving its head back and forth to pull at the meat.

Moments later, it bit through the pork, cutting off a small chunk before flying away with its takeaway meal.

The butcher and his colleagues can be heard talking among themselves, appearing stunned by the bizarre.

Experts said that while adult wasps mainly consume sugars and nectar, they scavenge for protein to feed their larvae. They are known to target picnics, bins, or even butcher shops, using their strong jaws to cut off pieces of steak, chicken, or pork to carry back to the nest for their young.
