On January 20, 2026, in Sevastopol, Crimea, Russia, security video captured a dramatic rescue near the embankment at Mys Khrustalny. In the video, a 13-year-old boy walking with a classmate attempted to skate on ice close to the waterfront, lost his balance, and fell into the cold sea. The girl immediately called for help, alerting nearby passersby. A woman lay flat on the ice and handed the boy a scarf, while two men, Alexander Machinsky and Georgy Modebadze, formed a human chain to pull him from the water. The teenager was successfully rescued and taken to a nearby hotel to warm up. City officials later confirmed he is safe and has been reunited with his mother.
