China: Visa-free access fuels growing Chinese tourist interest in Türkiye
【Voice_over】 Travel agencies in Shanghai are seeing an increase in the number of bookings for trips to Türkiye since the country launched a visa-free travel policy for Chinese nationals in early January. The new policy allows travelers to stay 90 days in the country without a visa. Chinese travelers seem excited to explore the country while agents say many people are planning to travel to Türkiye during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday. 【Sound_bite】 Customer: "I recently learned that Türkiye has granted visa-free travel to eligible Chinese tourists, so I'd like to take my parents on a visit to Türkiye during holidays." 【Sound_bite】 Zhou Weihong, deputy general manager, Spring Tour: "Since Türkiye began granting visa-free travel to eligible Chinese tourists, it has become very popular, with both inquiries and bookings increasing several times over. Bookings for the Spring Festival holiday season alone have tripled. Bookings are basically full during February." 【Voice_over】 Preparations are underway in Türkiye, meanwhile, to welcome the expected increase in Chinese nationals with the Istanbul airport planning to boost the number of Chinese-speaking staff. At the city's famous Grand Bazaar, shop owners say they want to brush up on their Chinese language skills to better serve the influx of new tourists. 【Sound_bite】 Salih Budak, candy shop owner: "Since more Chinese visitors are expected, we are in a hurry to study the Chinese language.
