Braverman Accuses Conservatives Of Betrayal As She Joins Reform UK. Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman accused the Conservatives of betrayal as she defected to Reform UK, becoming the third Tory MP to join the party in just over a week. Her move takes Reform’s total number of MPs to eight. Speaking at a press conference, Braverman says she has felt politically homeless for nearly two years, citing deep differences with the Conservatives on issues including Brexit and immigration. Her defection follows those of Robert Jenrick and Andrew Rosindell, who also left the party earlier this month. The Conservative Party responded by saying Braverman’s departure was inevitable, questioning her motivations and initially referring to her mental health in a statement. That line was later removed, with the party saying it was included in error. Braverman calls the remark pathetic and evidence of a party in free-fall. Former Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg condemns the comment as dreadful and inexcusable, urging those responsible to be held accountable.
