Los Angeles, United States - January 28, 2026 01/28/2026 12:00 am GMT-0800 SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Sometime before 1 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department located the suspect vehicle in the area of Mammoth Avenue and Milbank Street related to a fatal hit-and-run crash. The LAPD determined the vehicle was abandoned. Key News Network video shows damage to the vehicle's passenger side. A tow truck removed the vehicle from the area. It has been placed in police custody. A male pedestrian in his 80s and his dog were fatally struck by a hit-and-run vehicle while out for a walk in the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports. Bystanders began CPR on the pedestrian before first responders arrived. The dog died at the scene. Witnesses said the pedestrian was walking his dog at the time of the crash. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and transported the gravely injured man to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. His name is being withheld until next of kin is notified of his death. According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s press release of the incident, a 2009 Gray Maserati Quattroporte was traveling on Woodman Avenue, passing Moorpark Street, when it struck an older man and his dog crossing Woodman. The vehicle fled the scene and continued northbound on Woodman Avenue without stopping. The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Detectives (VTD) are investigating this fatal hit-and-run collision and are urging anyone with information to contact VTD Officer Takishita at (818) 644-8116 or Officer Reyes at (818) 644-8114.
