Heatwave insects
The recent hot weather has encouraged an influx of insects from across the channel. This video features firstly footage of the outsize hoverfly Volucella zonaria feeding on pollen from a bramble flower. Following this is a short sequence of the nectar-feeding hummingbird hawkmoth. The final section is of the beautiful clouded yellow butterfly which has been seen recently in the southern counties of England.
