Beautiful blizzard shrouds Cornwall landmark

Blizzard snow conditions today (February 28) have hit Cornwall at the very south west tip of the UK, including the iconic St Michael's Mount, shrouding the site in a rare and beautiful haze.

The castle on top of the island is only just visible during the heavy flurries, while in the rare breaks from the snow altogether one can see a brief glimpse of a 'once every ten years' phenomenon – the Mount itself covered in snow.

Cornwall has been heavily affected by the snows caused by the 'Beast from the East' polar vortex, and is expected to be among the first areas to be hit by the oncoming Storm Emma, which is due to land on Thursday.
