This seagull was craving a bit of cat food, but still had the senses to make sure it wasn't being watched before going for the steal.

The footage, submitted by a photographer based in Cornwall, shows a seagull cautiously stepping through an open window and walking towards the bowls of cat food. As it does so, it looks around several times to check that no one is around to catch it in the act.

After devouring the second bowl, the seagull walks away, seemingly satisfied by the surreptitious feast.

A cheeky seagull checks the coast is clear before stealing the cat's food. Then, having scoffed the lot in a matter of seconds, it brazenly starts on the second cat's bowl!

Amazingly skilled acrobats in the air, seagulls can swoop on the unwary and steal the ice cream from your hand. Now it seems they are applying their devious ways on land, and to animals other than humans.

Gulls are a clever and opportunistic species of bird, not only a 'menace in the skies' or 'thieving sky-rat' as some people call them!
