A white-water rafting guide was thrown out of a boat traveling down the Ottawa River on June 9.

In the video, a guide sitting in the back can be seen getting chucked out of the boat after it hits a powerful wave known as the Greyhound Buseater wave.

“On this day, in particular, I was kayaking at the wave and decided to fly my drone as a big whitewater rafting trip went by,” the filmer said.

“This boat hit the wave at the biggest point, the pressure of the water flexes the boat and the resulting spring sent the guide flying out of the back of the boat,” the filmer explained.

Every spring the ice on the Ottawa river melts and creates high water levels with every powerful river waves. This rapid on the Ottawa river is called the Lorne rapid and the wave they are hitting is called the Greyhound Buseater Wave, because it is massive and very powerful. On this day in particular I was kayaking at the wave and decided to fly my drone as a big whitewater rafting trip went by.
