Buy video

The Dusky Moorhen (Gallinula tenebrosa) is a common waterhen found on urban lakes and well-vegetated wetlands in eastern and south-western Australia. Dusky Moorhens flick their white undertail feathers when walking or alarmed. Dusky Moorhens feed on aquatic vegetation, grasses, fruits, seeds and invertebrates. This Moorhen was foraging on algal scum along the edge of Lake Monger near Perth that had a severe blue-green algal bloom at the time before moving off into the fringing vegetation.
