Major flooding continued to pose a threat across the coastal South Carolina cities following Florence's departure a week ago.

This video, filmed in Hartsville and Society Hill, South Carolina, shows flooded roads and overflowing rivers.

The storm has claimed at least 43 lives, according to local media, with over half of those deaths attributed to victims trapped in drowned vehicles.

Residents across the coastal Carolinas have been placed under evacuation orders as rivers continue to rise. In Georgetown County, South Carolina, more than 6,000 were told to leave as Pee Dee and Waccamaw rivers neared crest.

An economic research firm estimated that Hurricane Florence has caused around $44 billion in damage and lost output, which would make it one of the top 10 costliest U.S. hurricanes.
