A leopard was rescued from north west India's Rajasthan state earlier in March. The five-hour-long operation took place in Chittorgarh city.

According to visuals, the big cat was seen jumping a wall, as panicked locals tried to chase it away.

People, believed to be forest officials, were seen standing with nets, in a bid to catch the predator. After jumping over the wall, the leopard took shelter in a nearby isolated area filled with drums.

Seeing the leopard there, a forest official dropped a net on top of the animal and caught it.

Reports said it was then tranquilized with a gun and removed from the residential area.

The leopard was first spotted by a resident in Karnimata Khera of Kumbha Nagar sub-urban area.

Officials said its footprints were also found inside the bathroom of a house owned by a local school teacher.

The animal was first spotted at around 5:30 p.m.
