A leopard wasd rescued after it had fallen into a well in southern India's Karnataka.

This incident happened in Moodabidri town of Dakshin Kannada district on November 6.

Visuals showed the rescue operation take place. Officials had put a net around the well so that the animal could not jump out from any other direction and had put a cage at one end. They then used meat as bait to lure out the big cat from the well. The leopard was seen jumping out and heading straight into the cage. This was followed by a huge round of applause from those involved in this rescue operation.

According to a report, this leopard fell into the well while it was searching for food. Locals spotted the animal and informed the forest department about it. The police as well as forest department officials reached the spot to rescue the male leopard, which was in a life threatening condition. The big cat was rescued in the operation involving Zonal Forest Officer Hemant Shop and CF Satish among others. Locals have nonetheless stated that there are two more cubs in the area and have urged the forest department to take appropriate actions.
