Incessant rains have lashed Mumbai today (September 4), causing widespread flooding in the streets, traffic jams and slowing down train movement.

Video shows commuters crossing the waterlogged streets amid torrential downpour in Mumbai's Vasai Evershine road.

Schools have been closed and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains in the city until September 6.

Apart from Mumbai, the MeT department has issued a red alert in the cities of Thane, Palghar and Raigad cities amid heavy rains.

A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was deployed in many areas of Maharashtra state.
