MCI Crash with Parties Trapped Involving Four Vehicles Sends Five to the Hospital with at Least One Critical

Cal Fire responded with Moreno Valley PD deputies for reports of a traffic collision with extrication involving at least three vehicles. Arriving units located a total of four vehicles involved in the crash, a beige sedan and a dark colored sedan with major front and rear end damage blocking the middle of the roadway. A black Nissan Sentra was located on the sidewalk near the two disabled vehicles blocking the intersection. The Sentra sustained major damage on all sides of the vehicle. A black SUV was located crashed against a pole on the opposites side of the intersection and with major damage to the driver side. A total of 5 patients were initially counted and required a physical extrication. At least two vehicles had child seats in the rear, at this time it's unknown if any children were injured. One patient from the black Sentra was transported immediately to Riverside Community Health Center for severe injuries. According to witnesses, the victim didn't seem responsive. A total of 5 AMR units were requested, later upgraded to 6 due to another patient located that was in the black SUV at the time of the crash. This victim did not want to appear on camera but according to his statement he was traveling southbound on Heacock Street when he felt a violent impact that sent him flying into the pole. He didn't sustain any injuries and declined transport, but he stated that the driver of one of the two vehicles blocking the intersection possibly attempted to flee the scene, seriously injured. A woman passenger was in the car as well. Multiple beer empty beer cans and a bottle of liquor were discovered by deputies while searching the vehicle. At this time the cause of the crash is unknown but intoxication and speed may have been a factor. Heacock Street and Cottonwood Ave are blocked in both directions of travel pending the conclusion of the investigation and clearing of the roadway. A total of 5 patients were transported, 2 possibly critical.
