A car driver spotted a drunk driver driving his heavy container truck erratically on a highway near Dongargarh in Central India and called the police.

The local police rushed to the Pune-Raipur road and saw that the driver was not in control at all. The vehicle was swinging across the lanes to and fro threatening to crush anyone who got in the way.

Police inspector Ajay Kant Tiwari chased the vehicle and honked but was unable to get the driver the halt the vehicle.

As his jeep driver kept pace with the truck, Tiwari managed to climb into the moving truck and stopped the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said the brave inspector risked his life as the driver to ensure safety on the road. The errant driver was sent to a hospital for a check up and has been arrested.

Tiwari said: Hundreds of people had gathered for an event at a nearby spot. I was desperate to stop the truck as it could have caused a serious mishap.”
