Dutch tulip theme park 'Keukenhof' shut down while flowers are blossoming

Vendors outside of the world famous 'Keukenhof' flower gardens have few customers now the tulip theme park stays closed, because of the COVID-19 measures by the Dutch government. With the flowers on the fields in and around the park blossoming, Keukenhof will miss out on business for an entire season. The gardens are exclusively opened in spring, but the Dutch government has ordered closure for public facilities officially until the 1st of June. Keukenhof states it will 'survive' this years closure, but it regrets their 1300 employees will be out of a job in the next months. Also transportation company's involved, tourism in the area, and the flower bulb industry will be hit hard. In the 8 weeks of its usual opening, about 1,5 million people visit the Keukenhof every year.
