A herd of elephants squared off in an intense game of football organised as part of a festival in Nepal.

The event, which took place in Chitwan district of Bagmati Pradesh on December 28, 2019, was part of the Chitwan Elephant Festival.

Visuals show elephants bearing numbers on their skin engaging in a game of soccer.

The pachyderms not only kicked the ball but also scored some goals, as spectators cheered them on from the sidelines.

The match ended with a penalty shootout.

The 16th Chitwan Elephant Festival, which was held from December 26-30, 2019, also had events like elephant race, elephant polo, elephant beauty, elephant bathing and elephant picnic.
