Following a three-hour-long operation, forest department officials have managed to rescue a female leopard that fell into a 50-feet-deep (15.24 metres) well in western India's Gujarat.

The incident took place at Runvad village in Chota Udaipur district on June 10.

According to reports, the leopard strayed out of the forest and fell into a well inside a farm.

The owner of the well spotted the animal and alerted the forest department officials.

Forest department officials rushed to the spot to rescue the feline and to avert any animal-human conflict.

As soon as the rescue officials reached the spot they cleared the area of villagers who had gathered to get a glimpse of the animal.

The leopard was seated on a narrow iron rod concretised in the wall of the well to prevent from drowning in the water. However, the leopard slipped twice before managing to come out of the well.

The officials lowered a makeshift stairway platform tied to a rope for the leopard to climb onto for temporary support.

The visual shows the leopard climbing onto the stairway and jumping out of the well.

Following this, the feline escaped into a nearby forest.
