Horrified residents watched as their four-storey house collapsed today (June 13th) in eastern India.

The house, which was built at the edge of an irrigation canal, began to tilt this morning giving residents time to evacuate the property safely.

According to local media, recent dredging work in the canal may have de-stabilised the home which was owned by a local businessman.

No one was injured in the collapse since residents had already vacated the building. The house, built at the edge of an irrigation canal, and belonging to a local businessman started tilting this morning following dredging work which has been going on at the canal for the last few days . According to local reports the house was buily illegaly on the edge of the canal .
