This is the moment Indian rescuers hauled to safety two people who became stranded by severe flash flooding.

Gopal Mizar, 35, and Monu Biswakarma, 25, had gone fishing in Sibo Korong river in Pasighat in northeastern India on July 9.

Due to overnight heavy rain, the river had already swollen but when the water level rose again suddenly, the pair were unable to get back to the bank.

A local rescue team consisting of police and firefighters raced to a bridge 70 feet above the stricken fishermen and used ropes to pull them to safety.

They were checked over by medics as a precaution, according to reports.

Indian officials moved quickly to pull up a couple, who were stranded in a flooded river.

Due to overnight heavy rain the river had swollen. As the water level rose rapidly, the duo were unable to get back to the shore was stranded at the river owing to flood waters due to heavy rains and ran the risk of getting washed away by the raging current.

A local rescue team consisting of police and fire department were pressed to rescue the couple, who could be reached only from a bridge 70 feet above them.

After an assiduous effort by the team, they were rescued safely, informed Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Superintendent of Police of Pasighat.

All required & necessary medical evaluation had been taken carefully to the victims.
