Footage shows flooded roads during the morning rush hour gridlock traffic after a storm in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday (July 24).

The Thai capital was battered with downpours and thunderstorms shortly after sunrise, leading to flash floods on the city's swamped roads that struggled to cope with the annual rainy season monsoons.

Cars were queuing for several miles along the Ratchadapisek Road in the Huai Khwang district with lines of motorcycle riders filtering between the vehicles.

The Asoke junction along Sukhumvit Road was also hit with flash floods and long traffic jams. Thailand's rainy season lasts from the end of May until late September.

There are regular thunderstorms and heavy downpours leading to floods as the country's undeveloped infrastructure struggles to cope.
