Today marks the 76th anniversary of one of the UK's most famous & dangerous shipwrecks sinking in the Thames, UK. This extended footage shows the shipwreck in a variety of weather conditions during July & August 2020.

The WWII American liberty ship SS Richard Montgomery ran aground on the Nore sandbank and sank on 20 August 1944.

Most of the 7,000 tons of explosives were removed at the time, but it sank with 1,400 tons still onboard and submerged to this day.

Some believe it's a ticking time-bomb and another Beirut in the making, with New Scientist in 2004 predicting it would be "one of the biggest non-nuclear explosions" if it were to go off but the UK Coastguard who monitor the wreck believe the risk of an explosion to be "remote".
