Fire and disaster rescue teams were able to evacuate a herd of goats stranded on a river island in eastern India's Odisha.

The rescue operation took place in Mayurbhanj's Sukruli on September 22.

Visuals show the Odisha Fire and Disaster teams evacuating the goats from the island one after another.

It took them over two hours to wrap up the entire operation. They can be seen using lifebuoys and ropes to safely rescue the animals.

Three herders had gone to the river island to graze their goat herds on September 21 when suddenly the water level of the river rose.

The three people were able to escape to safety, while the animals were left stranded.

All the goats were safely rescued and brought to safe ground by the rescuers' efforts.
