At least 10 people, seven of whom are children, have died in a building collapse in western India's Maharashtra. The incident took place in Bhiwandi's Patel area compound on September 21 early morning.

Visuals show the entire building reduced to rubbles after the unfortunate incident. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams can be seen in action rescuing people trapped under the debris.

A video from the rescue operation shows a child rescued from the rubble being tended to by the rescue teams. They can be seen asking for an ambulance to rush the child to a hospital.

At least 20 people have been rescued, including a child, from below the rubble as of now while the operation carried out by NDRF, fire services and police teams is still underway.

Dozens are still being feared trapped.

A civic body official has claimed that the building collapsed when the residents were fast asleep at 3:40 AM IST.

Those rescued have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
