Bangkok awaits foreign tourists

A quiet Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Friday. Before Covid 19 it was thriving. Now almost all flights are domestic as foreign tourists are banned; there have been none for the past six months. The government is formulating a plan to allow 1200 foreigners a month from low risk countries to enter under a special tourist visa (STV), beginning this month with Chinese. The onerous conditions including quarantine are likely to deter visitors. Last year Thailand received almost 40 million foreign tourists; this years figure is predicted to be under 7 million.
