Pedestrians in Bengaluru, southern India, has a lucky escape after an out of control bus rammed into the front of a hotel on October 31.

The bus driver was unable to stop the vehicle due to a brake failure seeing it slamming into motorcycles parked on the side of the road in front of the hotel.

Four people standing outside the hotel were injured. A police officer said: "The few customers inside and the staff were able to escape."

The hotel owner Rizwan Pasha has filed a complaint with the local traffic police and the bus driver has been booked under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Pedestrians ran helter-skelter when the driver of a bus lost control and ploughed into a hotel in Bangalore on Saturday afternoon. The driver, Prateesh, later claimed he was unable to stop the bus as there was a brake failure. He ran over a line of vehicles parked on the footpath before ploughing into the hotel in Vyalikaval. The bus came to a halt after it hit a stand and tables in the hotel. Four people standing outside the hotel were injured. The police estimate that at least 40 people had a narrow escape. “The few customers inside and the staff were able to escape,” said a police officer, adding that four two-wheelers and a car were damaged.
The hotel owner, Rizwan Pasha, has filed a complaint with Malleswaram traffic police and the driver Prateesh has been booked under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. “We are waiting for the medical report to ascertain if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. He did not have a driving license,” police said
