Footage show tractors and trucks leaving the town of Belen Gualcho in Honduras after Hurricane Iota caused damage across the region.

The owner of the vehicles said they were forced to leave the district with the roads half-finished due to the severe damage inflicted by the hurricane.

The community has reportedly lost access to the main roads according to a resident, Yovan Trejo.

Hurricane Iota has killed more than 40 people across Central America as of November 23. Most of the deaths have been in Nicaragua and Honduras and more than 40 others are still missing.

Iota is currently the strongest Atlantic hurricane of the year and is the second ever to strengthen to category 5 level since 1932.
