12月6日下午，5岁男童正在 江山市鹿溪渠玩耍，不慎跌入2米深的水渠中。 医生祝建军听见呼喊声后，飞奔到水渠边纵身跳入水中。冬天冷水刺骨，祝建军抓着孩子，让孩子骑在自己身上，确保孩子不会二次溺水。但没曾想，祝建军不会游泳，他只能一手紧紧抓住岸边植被，另一只手将孩子一次又一次的托举上岸，最终在岸上市民的帮助下，将孩子成功救上岸。
7日上午，落水儿童的妈妈也带着锦旗和果篮，向帮助过她的好心人致谢。
祝医生却说：“我只是做了一件大家都会做的事情”。鹿溪渠水深2米多，身高一米六五的祝建军医生表示，“平时让我跳我是绝对不会跳的，但在那种危机关头，是来不及思考的”。于是听到呼救声的他，一边奔跑一边脱下身上的羽绒服，蹬掉脚上的棉拖鞋，“扑通”一声跳进水里。在他的潜意识里，救人已成为了一种本能，不论是在工作中，还是工作外。
