At least eight people were killed and 240 were injured as a powerful winter storm battered the Sea of Japan.

The video filmed by @Makoto46161 in Toyama, central Japan on Sunday (January 10), shows empty shelves in a supermarket after heavy snow disrupted transport and affected supply chains across the sea of Japan's coastal areas.

Another video filmed by @bita_kin at National Route 8 in Fukui Prefecture, shows vehicles getting stranded on a snow-covered road.

According to reports, about 1,500 vehicles got stranded on roads and highways in the region due to heavy snow. While, damages were reported such as major disruption of transportation, fallen trees, and power outages.
