RNLI lifeboat reacts to a real emergency. At Newquay Cornwall The 'Gladys Mildred' B Class Atlantic 85 RIB lifeboat launches with full volunteer crew after reports of two individuals on a rock cut off by the tide.

The RNLI Lifeboat Gladys Mildred, a B class Atlantic 85 Lifeboat was notified by Falmouth coastguard control centre that two individuals in the Porth Watergate Bay area had been trapped on a rock by a rising tide. The volunteer crew are summoned by pagers and the first members to arrive at the lifeboat house get to man the rescue craft. Once the correct number of crew is reached the lifeboat launches. Newquay lifeboat operates from sandy beach conditions, An amphibious tractor tows a submersible cage containing the lifeboat to reach a sufficient depth of water to effect a launch. The mission is a success and the two individuals were rescued unharmed and returned to dry land.
