Service delivery protest in Cape Town in informal settlement

Residents of the Cape Town informal settlement, Du Noon, protested and caused Malibongwe Boulevard which straddles the N7 highway to be closed. SAPS (South African Police Service) public order officers and Cape Town law enforcement officers responded and attended to the scene.

The sub-council chairperson for the area, Nora Grove from the Democratic Alliance, came to the scene and engaged with the protesters. The protesters agreed to stand down to allow a water truck to enter the area, Residents are demanding electricity, proper roads and sanitation.

The protesters said they would continue to protest and close roads if their demands are not met.
