August 22, 2021 was an emotional day for the citizens of Yorkshire as they had to bid adieu to the remains of a 50-year-old power station.

Footage captured by Claire Cowell shows a controlled explosion bringing down a boiler house and two chimney stacks.

The filmer said: "Demolition at the Ferrybridge C Power Station in West Yorkshire shows two chimney stacks and a boiler house getting reduced to rubble."

The said site was closed by SSE (power firm) back in 2016 after the company made its intentions clear in opting for low-carbon energy.

The demolition began in 2019 and is expected to wrap up in the near future with the destruction of the remaining cooling towers.
