Stranded fishing boat rescued by coast guards in eastern India

In a valiant action, the Indian Coast Guards (ICG) successfully rescued the crew members of a fishing boat stranded in the Bay of Bengal amidst cyclonic conditions near eastern India's West Bengal on September 12. The boat named FB MAA SHITALA was stranded around 35 Nautical miles south of Sagar Island with 11 crew members onboard.

Visuals feature the fishing boat trembling heavily amidst the sea waves. The ICG crew members constantly steer their boat towards them and try to stick close to them. They ultimately establish. a close connection and extend their hands to rescue the crew. One by one they extend their hands and safely bring the members on their boat.

They embarked on the rescue journey after the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Contai received information intimating about a stranded fishing boat.
Reportedly, its engine had failed and they had lowered their anchor, seeking rescue.

Immediately, a multifarious swift rescue operation was launched and the Coast Guard Dornier surveilling the area in the area was diverted to locate the boat. Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Anmol, which was on a routine deployment, was diverted for assistance.

Subsequently, in a sea-air coordinated mission, all the crew members were safely rescued. On confirming their stability, they were brought to Haldia and handed over to the local police, all while maintaining COVID-19 protocols.
