On 21 October 2021, SDRF achieved great success in the rescue operation in Harshil. 11 people including 8 tourists who had gone for Chitkul trekking via Lamkhaga pass from Harshil went missing. Search and rescue operation was conducted by SDRF team in search of them.

The search was done from Heli by the team of SDRF. During aerial search, the team found the missing trekkers. The search was started on foot by the team after landing from the helicopter. Irrespective of the freezing cold, icy winds and thick blankets of snow, SDRF personnel rescued two Surviving Trekkers. One of them was rescued safely and rushed to Army Hospital in Hailey. While the other survivor is in a safe camp with the SDRF team, proper care is being taken.

Apart from this, five bodies have also been recovered, for which the team has also reached.

This rescue operation is being carried out by SDRF rescue team in extremely extreme conditions.
