A leopard was rescued by officials after it fell into a well in northern India's Rajasthan.

The incident took place in Bhadesar town in Bhadesar Tehsil, Chittorgarh district on June 24.

Visuals showed a leopard sitting inside a cage. It was licking its body the whole time. In another video, the leopard was seen getting released by the officials.

Speaking to Newslions, Divisional Forest Officer (territorial), Sugna Ram Jat said that they were informed about the incident of a leopard falling into the well on June 23 and they started the rescue on June 24.

Their team reached the spot immediately after the information. They saw that the animal was swimming inside the well with the help of a pipe.

Officials put a cot inside the well along with a ladder to help the leopard come out. The animal tried to climb the ladder but failed. It sat on the cot while they put a cage inside it. The animal jumped inside it and was pulled up by the team. They did not try to tranquilise the leopard inside the well because it could have been dangerous for its life. The rescue went on for 10 hours.

The rescue was carried out in Nimbahera Range by Range Forest Officer Rajendra and team.
