A trio of skiers was almost engulfed by an avalanche as heaps of snow cascaded down a mountain in Tsvirmi, Georgia, on January 6.

Footage recorded by Shako shows the moment he glided down the mountain as an avalanche was triggered.

A few seconds into his descent, a layer of snow begins to move and comes crashing down the mountain after Shako.

Two of his friends, Gio and Zura, were further down the mountain and were caught in the avalanche.

Shako said: "My friends were lucky because it stopped almost there where they were standing."

He also mentioned he wasn't scared as this was the third avalanche he has been in.
