CCTV captured the moment a ghostly food cart propelled itself down a street in Indonesia.

The spooky video was filmed by security cameras on 20 August 2021 in an area popular with street food vendors in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra province.

The toast cart was left by its owner on the roadside but not long after that the cart takes off and rolls down the road without being pushed. The 'kaki lima', as such hand-pushed food carts are known in Indonesia, is not obviously on a slope either.

The incident forced a car to hit the brakes rather than hit the cart.

After sliding about 20m (65 feet) the cart hit the pavement and overturned.

Firdaus, a culinary trader who owns the CCTV, said the confused cart owner asked him to check the CCTV to make sure what happened.

"It happened when the street vendors were preparing to close," Firdaus said, adding that the CCTV shed no light on what prompted the cart to move.

According to Firdaus, the cart owners lost hundreds thousands of rupiah (100,000 IDR is roughly 7 USD) as all the cart's glass was broken and its food spilled onto the road.
