This is the astonishing moment dozens of off-road motorbike riders were left stuck in thick mud during a race in Indonesia.

The riders could barely get through the messy trail as they kept sliding down the slippery dirt track following heavy rain in Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi province on December 1.

As they thrashed their engines, the wheels kicked up more dirt and covered other competitors in mud.

Riders evern had to pull one another using ropes just so they could finish the muddy trail. Some of the motorbikes sank in 1ft-deep sludge and had to be helped by their rivals.

One of the riders Asriadi Adi said: ‘It was an epic race and one of the great experiences of riding. We were surprised but at least we have all finished it.’

The trail started fine but as the riders went further, they stumbled upon the wet ground, keeping the riders piled up across the trail.

Despite the unforeseen turn of events, all of the riders finished the track without anyone hurt.
