A young bear in Alaska got lucky, then unlucky, when a salmon jumped right into its mouth and out again!

The cub picked a quiet time on 27 March at the waterfall in Brooks Falls, when larger bears were not in the area.

It's timing seemed to be perfect when one salmon jumped straight into its jaws. But after a brief tussle, the cub dropped its lunch and the by-now bloody fish escaped back into the water.

The scene was captured by Jenifer Hadley, 49, from Raleigh, USA.

The video is in super slow-motion, to capture the detail of the battle between bear and fish.
