Orphaned bear cubs play fought inside their shelter in Oregon Zoo.

Footage shows the black bears Timber and Thorn lightly wrestling each other in Portland on March 12.

Zoo staff said the pair were orphans who were found wandering separately in Alaska. Timber and Thorn were rescued by state wildlife officials and received care at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage before making their way to Portland.

Named after their forest home and Portland's major league soccer teams, the cubs are now getting acquainted with their new surroundings and showing off their playful personalities.

While the cubs have been bonding and growing together, they will eventually have the opportunity to meet the zoo's adult black bears, Cubby and Dale.

Black bears, once widespread throughout North America, have faced habitat loss and other challenges that have led to population declines.

However, conservation efforts have led to a rebound in black bear numbers in many states and provinces.
