Eight drug dealers in Indonesia could face death penalty after being arrested with 41.4 Kg methamphetamine

The Indonesian Police arrested eight men suspected of trafficking methamphetamine.

Footage from May 21 shows police officers from Bukittinggi, West Sumatra province carrying a box containing evidence of tens kilograms of methamphetamine confiscated from eight men.

The Head of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Inspector General Teddy Minahasa Putra, said that the disclosure of the case began with the arrest of a small packet of methamphetamine dealer, then developed until within a week his team managed to arrest seven traffickers and a large narcotics dealer.

Of the eight suspects, the police confiscated evidence weighing 41.4 kilograms worth 62 billion rupiahs or 4 million USD.

The narcotics dealer kept dozens of methamphetamine packages in the ground under his house.

"They are suspected of being international network narcotics dealers. From the packaging, the methamphetamine package is thought to have come from Taiwan," Inspector General Teddy added.

The suspects are suspected of breaking the Drug Abuse Act which carries the death penalty.
