Indonesian police have arrested six drug couriers who had smuggled 64 kg of methamphetamine in a portable air conditioner.

During a press conference held at Mapolda Lampung on April 13, Lampung Regional Police Chief, General Helmy Santika, said:

"The suspects with initials MH, FR, CP, AP, SB, and RY have been designated as suspects for their role as couriers".

According to the general, the couriers were part of an interprovincial network.

The methamphetamine, which was seized in the South Lampung Bakauheni Seaport Introduction Area, originated from the Riau Islands and were directed to Java Island.

Six drug couriers have been arrested by the Lampung Police Narcotics Detective Directorate in a successful operation. They had smuggled 64 kg of methamphetamine in a portable air conditioner and intended to send it to Java Island. Lampung Regional Police Chief, General Helmy Santika, announced that the suspects arrested have been identified.

"The suspects with initials MH, FR, CP, AP, SB, and RY have been designated as suspects for their role as couriers," said General Helmy during a press conference at Mapolda Lampung on Thursday (13/4/2023).

According to General Helmy, the meth couriers arrested were part of an interprovincial network. The illegal drugs originated from the Riau Islands and were seized in the South Lampung Bakauheni Seaport Introduction Area.

General Helmy revealed that one of the suspects' methods of operation was to hide drugs in a portable air conditioner to deceive authorities. The perpetrators packaged the narcotics in the portable air conditioner and transported them by truck to Java Island.

General Helmy emphasized that they will tighten security at the Bakauheni South Lampung Port to prevent drug smuggling practices that still occur in the region.
