Firefighters lowered a ladder down into a well in Sambalpur, Odisha, to help a leopard escape.

The wild animal had fallen into the pit on June 7 and was rescued by officials the day after.

Fire Officer Mishra Kishan said they initially tied ropes to a wooden plank and dropped it into the well to help the leopard stay afloat. The animal was then able to scale the ladder and escape the well.

A leopard , which had fallen into a well near Hindol ghat in Odisha's Sambalpur district, was rescued by range staff following a rescue operation with the help of police and Rairakhol fire personnel Today.


The leopard fell into the well last night. Some villagers heard its grunting roar this morning and informed the local police and forest officals around 8 am .


Fire officer Mishra Kishan said that they got information from the Forest dept about a leopard that fell in the well. Initially, a wooden plank tied to a rope at both ends was dropped into the well to help the feline stay afloat. A wooden ladder was then lowered down. The leopard hopped on it and climbed out of the well.
