A steel bridge collapsed after an overloaded truck exceeded its weight limit in the Philippines.

Thr Borja Bridge bent and twisted from the weight of the sand-loaded 12-wheeler driving along Catigbian, Bohol province on June 16 morning.

The vehicle with its cargo reportedly weighed more than 20 tons, putting it above the bridge's weight capacity. The lorry carrying building materials and the bridge plunged into the ravine below.

Officers said no one was injured, and the driver managed to climb out safely. Meanwhile, the truck remains precariously suspended on the structure's crumpled guardrails.

The Catigbian Police Station said in its report: 'Motorists are advised to take alternative routes to avoid delays and impediments going to Sagbayan or nearby towns passing through Borja Bridge.'

The incident comes after the horror collapse of the Old Clarin Bridge in Loay town of the same province last April, where four people - including an Austrian tourist - died after drowning in a river.
