A bridge has collapsed after a rain-swollen river eroded its foundation in the Philippines on Thursday.

Footage shows the pink bridge hanging lopsided in the flood following a torrential thunderstorm in Malungon Town, Sarangani province, on November 17.

The local public information office said a weather warning had been raised in the town due to heavy rainfall.

In an advisory today, the office said: 'The safety of our citizens is our primary concern. Our local disaster risk reduction and management office is already mobilized to do rapid damage assessment and needs analysis. Ongoing forced evacuation on all affected areas is also being exercised.'

Classes in all levels in public and private schools have also been suspended.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the trough of a low-pressure area of weather and the intertropical convergence zone - an equatorial band of converging winds - are bringing scattered rain and thunderstorms over the southern island of Mindanao where Sarangani province is located.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries or casualties.
