A smart stray dog was seen crossing a river on a cable car in northern Thailand.

Footage shows the black stray pooch patiently waiting until the steel structure reached the banks on the other side of the stretch of water in Phitsanulok province on June 12.

Amazed tourist Kittiwadee Yungtong said the dog looked very confident while on the machine.

She said: 'I was on holiday with my family and we visited a temple. The dog suddenly appeared on the cable car He looked very confident in the machine. What an amazing creature.'

The cable cars usually cost around two or three Thai Baht to use in order to cross canals, rivers and streams. However, the dog is understood to have rode it for free with the help of the operator.
