This is the gruesome moment Yellowjacket wasps ravaged a mouse carcass clean to the bone in Minnesota.

Footage shows the carnivorous insects pulling off the meat from the dead rodent's body in Minneapolis on August 15.

Officers from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service noticed the wasps gorging on the mouse. A spokesman said: ‘Within 24 hours, these wasps completely cleaned this entire mouse carcass.

‘These workers bring chewed up meat and fruit back to the nest to feed the larvae. During this time, the colony rapidly expands and may reach up to 5,000 workers and 15,000 cells!'

The wasps reportedly finished off the entire mouse the next day after diligently returning to harvest its meat.
