A terrified tourist was rescued after she stopped midway across a zipline in the Philippines.

Footage shows the woman hanging in a prone position on a harness over a beach in tourist hotspot El Nido in Palawan province on December 1.

Onlookers said she began losing momentum halfway through until she finally stalled on the cables.

An employee later slid across the wires to assist her in finishing the flying fox ride.

Fellow tourist Ysabelle Santiago said: "We were walking along the beach and saw someone on the zipline. We noticed she was already slowing down even if the ride wasn't at the end of the line yet. She then ground to a full stop, so I decided to film the incident and see what would happen next. Shortly after, someone arrived and helped the woman finish the ride. Everyone was safe, fortunately".
