Aussie dad rescues baby ringtail possum from boat landing net

Australian Dad, Jacob Strickling, found a baby ringtail possum ensnared in a boat fishing landing net in his shed. He took the net outside and using a pair of scissors attempted to free the possum.

The rescue did not go as smoothly as planned as the possum was quite distressed and started trying to attack the rescuer.

To free the animal properly, the string needed to be cut quite close to the body. Otherwise, the possum could be freed, but would still be ensnared with the tight nylon string, leading to death.

As the animal was jumping all over the place, Strickling used a piece of foam to trap the possum in place and try and calm it down. Eventually, all the string was cut away and the possum was free.

The possum seemed to then attack the rescuers and the child filming the action ran off screaming.

Thankfully the animal climbed up some building materials and re-entered the shed.
